I tried for a few months with no luck. I wound up creating a 12Volt DC bank using my generator electrical system.
I added another generator battery and a switch, 1,2 or both. I already have a 12 volt DC charger. The bulbs are not a problem, and I am able to use the low amp 75 watt energy savers. I will in time change the entire boat over to 12 volt. The are several reasons I think this this is the way to go 1) Some 32 Volt parts are only available from one vendor, lack of competition drives up price, 2) some navigation equipment is not available in 32 volt at all again either restricting choice or forcing you to use a transformer, again see #1, 3) the activity of or paying for the removal and replacement of 8 volt batteries is demanding. |

Thanks for the fast response! Any ideas on the cost of converting the entire system?

I went down to a local light shop and bought a small convertor socket for each 32 volt light socket- so now I can use regular 110 blubs, each cost under $2.00--it fits right in and coverts 32 to 110 - easy fast and cheap...I do have some 32vt light bulbs for sale if interested...
